From field to factory, Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Company (HC&S) has long been an industry leader in technology and innovation, enabling us to remain one of the most productive sugar businesses in the world. With a deep commitment to the well-being of Maui and its people, our goal is to keep Central Maui in agriculture and foster agricultural growth throughout the island.
Our pioneering roots date back more than 140 years. Today, HC&S is the state’s largest farm, with 36,000 acres under cultivation, and is Hawaii’s sole producer of raw and specialty sugar. We also generate enough electricity, primarily from renewable sources, to be 100% energy self-sufficient, and provide our local utility with 6% of its total annual power supply for the island.
As one of Maui’s largest private employers, HC&S provides full-time jobs for 800 men and women and is fortunate to have multiple generations employed at HC&S. We take our responsibilities seriously, as a steward of our environment, good neighbor and citizen within our island community.
